Rule 53
Work, Duties and Powers of the Inspector General of Police
: In addition to other things written in this regulation, the work, duties and powers of the Inspector General of Police shall be as follows:
(a) To exercise general control, supervision and direction in the Police Headquarters and all police offices under it,
(b) Proper supervision and control over the work of Additional Inspector General of Police and Deputy Inspector General of Police,
(c) to effectively implement or cause the chain of command to make the operations of the police organization effective, to maintain or cause an environment of coordination and cooperation between subordinate police offices,
(d) To formulate and effectively implement policies necessary to maintain the conduct and discipline of police personnel, to enhance work efficiency and performance capacity, to make them conscientious and to keep morale high,
(e) Assessing the work of the police office and police personnel and conducting punishments, rewards, transfers, promotions, etc. (f) Formulate or implement policies and plans to make the police service timely and people-oriented,
(g) Promoting or conducting the protection of human rights, making or conducting special plans related to the protection of the rights of the helpless, women and children,
(h) To send the report to the Ministry as soon as possible regarding the disruption of social harmony, adverse security, illegal and serious criminal activities and extraordinary political activities,
(i) Formulate and effectively implement the necessary plans for the prevention and control of adverse security, illegal and criminal activities,
(j) To formulate and implement the necessary policies and plans to enhance the effectiveness of the investigation of crimes designated to be investigated by the police in accordance with the prevailing law,
(k) To make or cause to be properly arranged for the management of the employment of police personnel,
(l) To arrange for timely training of police personnel as required,
(d) Disaster ManagementAnd involving the police carefully in the rescue operation of the victim,
(d) To maintain contact and coordination with the international police organization,
(n) to inspect the police offices of at least three districts within each region once a year and send the report to the Ministry,
(p) To advise the Government of Nepal on matters related to the internal peace and order of the country (th) To perform the work in accordance with the instructions received from the Government of Nepal and submit the report (D) If there is a request from the international community for Nepal Police to establish peace, arrange for the deployment as approved by the Government of Nepal,
(d) To submit opinions and recommendations to the Ministry for the participation of Nepal Police in international workshops, seminars, trainings and studies related to security,
(n) Sending the annual report of the police administration to the Ministry,
(c) To perform or cause other actions as specified by the prevailing law.
