Section 2
Definition
In this Act, unless the subject or context requires otherwise,-
(a) "Constitution" means the Constitution of Nepal.
(b) "Speaker" means the Speaker of the Legislature-Parliament.
(c) "Deputy Speaker" means the Deputy Speaker of the Legislature-Parliament.
(d) "Leader of the Opposition Party" means the Leader of the Opposition Party of the Legislature-Parliament as per clause (1) of Article 296 of the Constitution.
(e) "Member" shall mean a member of the Legislature-Parliament.
(f) "Secretariat" means the Legislature-Parliament Secretariat established as per Section 3.
(g) "Committee" means the Secretariat Operation and Management Committee formed as per Section 6.
(h) "Officer" means the Speaker, Deputy Speaker, Leader of the Opposition, Chairman of the Committee of the Legislature-Parliament, Leader of the Parliamentary Party of the political party represented in the Legislature-Parliament, Deputy Leader, Chief Whip, Chief Whip, Secretary, Whip and General Secretary and Secretary of the Legislative Parliament. (i) "Legislature-Parliament Service" shall mean the Nepal Legislature-Parliament Service established in accordance with section 14.
(j) "General Secretary" means the Secretary General of the Legislature-Parliament.
(k) "Secretary" means the Secretary of the Legislature-Parliament.
(l) "Secretary of the Secretariat" means the Secretary of the Secretariat.
(d) "Promotion Committee" means the Promotion Committee constituted as per Section 27.
(d) "Employee" means a person appointed to the post of Legislature-Parliament Service.
(n) "police officer" means a person appointed to the post of police officer.
(s) "Permanent post" means a pensionable and indefinite term of service in the Legislature-Parliament.
(q) "Family" means the husband, wife, son, unmarried daughter, adopted son, unmarried adopted daughter, father, mother or step-mother who lives with the employee and has to be supported by him/herself and by that word, in the case of male and unmarried female employees, his/her husband, wife, etc. And in the case of a married female employee, it refers to her mother-in-law and father-in-law.
(d) "Prescribed" or "as prescribed" means prescribed or prescribed in the rules made under this Act.
