Rule 17
Amount of yield to be collected
(1) Demand and supply of wood, firewood in the district within its jurisdiction every year. The amount of production should be determined by assessment.
(2) While collecting the forest produce, it should be collected in such a way that it does not exceed the annual allowable cutting amount specified in the approved action plan according to the relevant forest management system.
(3) Notwithstanding anything written in sub-rule (2), if the forest produce is damaged or the forest produce rots or perishes due to disaster events such as flood, landslide, snowfall, windstorm, fire, insect and disease transmission, the action plan has been prescribed to collect such forest produce from the forest area. An annual/allowable cut may be cut in excess of the amount.
(4) If there is a loss of forest produce due to the disaster mentioned in sub-rule (3), the Divisional Forest Officer or the forest officer appointed by him shall immediately inspect the site and inform the District Disaster Management Committee along with the date of the incident and the preliminary details of the damage.
(5) As mentioned in sub-rule (4), the Divisional Forest Officer, after measuring and assessing the value of the damaged forest produce, may collect and sell/distribute such forest produce with the recommendation of the District Disaster Management Committee and the Provincial Forest Director, after taking the approval of the Provincial Ministry.
(6) After collecting wood and firewood according to sub-rule (5), the annual allowable cutting quantity of the action plan should be reviewed and included in the action plan.
(7) Forests as per sub-rule (3) from forests other than forests managed by consumer groups in inter-regional forests and forest conservation areas. If the produce is to be collected, the Division Forest Office shall take the approval of the Department on the recommendation of the Directorate.
