(1) The Divisional Forest Officer shall make proper arrangements to prevent forest fires in his area of work and in case of forest fires, he shall make immediate arrangements for control. The Divisional Forest Officer may form a fire control mechanism for fire control. (2) The local administration and security agencies should provide necessary support to the Divisional Forest Officer for forest fire control.
(3) Consumer groups should prevent forest fires in their forest areas and arrange for immediate control in case of forest fires. Consumer groups may form forest fire control volunteer sub-groups or units for fire control.
(4) A private forest owner or land owner shall make arrangements to prevent the spread of fire or burning in his private forest or land.
(5) The Divisional Forest Officer shall make the details of the arrangements made for forest fire control available to the directorate, department and provincial ministry as soon as possible.
(6) The department may develop a forest fire information system based on Geographical Information System (GPS) or other similar technology and arrange for immediate transmission of forest fire information to the concerned Divisional Forest Officer.
(7) The Provincial Ministry may, after looking at the situation of forest fires, declare forest fire risk areas and make special arrangements for prevention and control on the recommendation of the District Forest Safety Coordination Committee. (8) Government of Nepal can arrange proper relief and treatment of injured in case of loss of property due to forest fire.
