Rule 63
Collection of forest produce by forest management
(1) In accordance with the approved action plan, forest management and collection of forest produce should be done in such a way that the annual allowable cut does not increase.
(2) Notwithstanding anything written in sub-rule (1), it is allowed to collect such forest produce from the forest area if the forest produce is damaged due to catastrophic events such as flood, landslide, snowfall, windstorm, fire, insect and disease infection. The limits of the annual allowable erosion amount prescribed by the Action Plan shall not be deemed to have been exceeded.
(3) In case of damage to banyan crops due to the disaster mentioned in sub-rule (2), the Divisional Forest Officer or the forest officer assigned by him shall immediately inspect the site and inform the District Disaster Management Committee along with the date of the incident and preliminary details of the damage.
(4) The Divisional-Forest Officer can measure and evaluate the damaged forest produce as mentioned in sub-rule (3) and collect and sell and distribute it with the approval of the Provincial Ministry through the Directorate on the recommendation of the District Disaster Management Committee.
(5) According to sub-rule (4), after the collection of wood, firewood, the annual allowable cutting quantity of the action plan should be reviewed and included in the forest action plan.
(6) Regardless of what is written in this rule, if the value of trees that have fallen naturally by themselves exceeds the annual allowable felling amount, it can be collected by taking the consent of the Division Forest Office to match the annual allowable felling amount of the next year.
