Rule 118
Provisions relating to building security

(1) The Divisional Forest Officer shall conduct regular forest patrols for forest protection and to control activities that may be contrary to the Act and these regulations.
(2) The Divisional Forest Officer shall include the subject of forest protection in the strategic plan as per sub-rule (3) of rule 14 and shall prepare and implement the annual security plan subject to the strategic plan.
(3) The consumer group shall make arrangements for the protection of the forest under its management and if the consumer group requests assistance in controlling crime in such forest area, the Divisional Forest Officer shall provide necessary assistance.
(4) For the protection of national forests, there will be a District Forest Security Coordinating Committee in each district as follows:-
(a) Chief District Officer - Chairman (b) District-based security agencies - member heads
(c) Divisional Forest Officer-Member-Secretary (5) If there is more than one divisional forest office in a district, the divisional forest officer of the divisional forest office at the district headquarters shall be the member-secretary of the committee as per sub-rule (4) and the other divisional forest officer shall be the member.
(6). If there is a request from the Divisional Forest Office for the protection of the National Forest, the local administration and security agencies should provide the necessary support.
(7) The Provincial Forest Director shall regularly monitor the activities of the Division Forest Office in relation to the protection of the National Forest and provide necessary coordination, facilitation and support.
(8) The Divisional Forest Officer shall, in accordance with sub-sections (1) and (2) of section 68 of the Act, sell the confiscated or recovered forest produce or goods by auction on the basis of full competition through sealed bidding as per rule 25.
